Walkers - Ham & Mustard

Yes, we've finally got around to reviewing the new Walkers range!

The sandwich range that may as well be sponsored by Heinz.. as every flavour has a Heinz logo on the front (Yes Heinz also own HP sauce).

Before I get onto the flavour - is it me or have Walkers suddenly become really stingy with the thickness of their crisps? These are paper thin!!!

The flavour isn't actually too bad. I'm a bit fan of Mustard flavouring in crisps, it's mild but prominent, and completes the porky flavouring (yes it's still suitable for vegetarians) quite well.

I'm annoyed about the thin crisp, but I'm pretty happy with the flavour.

Burton's Fish n Chips - Red Sauce

Well here is a Chip crisp I can really get behind!

Burton's Fish n Chips tow the line on whether they should be included as a crisp, as really they're a baked biscuit/cracker.

But they have been a long standing classic in the crisp for so many years, just liked our beloved mini cheddars so i'm giving them the praise they deserve.

And here they are with 2 new flavours! They're running a competition between red sauce (ketchup) and brown sauce! What a great idea and what a crisp. They've really mastered the sweet tomato flavouring.. they're so moreish. Haven't found the brown sauce version yet - but red sauce gets my vote over most crisps today!

Next up in the chips range, it's a really exciting... salt flavour! And wow they really went all out on the salt levels here.. I'm not sure they're legally allowed to have this amount of salt content.. I can't even start to eat these. Bad call McCoys, bad call.

McCoys -  Salt & Vinegar (CHIPS)

Something new from McCoys, and they're really going to confuse the Americans with this range! Chip flavoured crisps? What the heck does that even mean?!

It's true to say that when you go to a proper English fish & chip shop- you're in for an intensely full on amount of salt & a good dose of vinegar... not that anyone ever complained about the amount of flavouring on a McCoys crisp!! So I was a little hesitant when opening the pack that there would be waaaayyyy too much flavouring, but now they're in my mouth I can see that they haven't overdone it. Sure there's more than usual and you'll need to wash it down with a cold pint, but it's still palatable. The crisp is super crunchy, like two deep ridged crisps woven together in chip like size.

Not sure there was a call for these, they're ok but I prefer their classics, I now need a ton of liquid to return my body to a more humane state.

Kettle Chips - Mozzarella & Pesto Lentil Curls (bites)

Another in the new kettle bites range and here we have a lentil crisp, lentils have been making a real dent in the healthy crisp world and I can see why, they're real crunchy and wholesome.

Pesto is the besto. Seriously I love pesto, and these really hit the spot. There's a slight creaminess from the mozzarella that actually makes it veer towards a sour cream style of flavour which works well. They're pretty rich so I wouldn't be scoffing a share pack to myself but I'm generally really impressed.

Kettle chips - Maple Barbecue whole grain waves (bites)

I love a good British airport - they're always the place you'll find a crisp brand trying out a new range.

Here we have kettle 'bites' - they look drizzly on the front but they're actually pretty similar  to walkers sun bites- only thicker, crunchier & packed full of flavouring. Crunch is perfect, flavour is less so for me. Don't get me wrong I love a nice sweet tangy bbq flavour, but maple just doesn't sit right in this crisp and I'm finding them a little vommy.
