Cofresh Hummus Chips - Chilli & Lemon

Another Hummus crisp from Cofresh, this time chilli & Lemon flavour (also found in Luton Airport WHsmith)

It's pretty clear that chick peas are an awesome choice for a crisp. They give such a great crunch, some of them similar to the likes of the almighty wheat crunchies!

Chilli & Lemon flavouring is good, those who are cassava chilli & lemon regulars will enjoy these.

Mixing the chilli with lemon gives them a very indian tasting spice. I like.

Jack Pots - Sea Salt & Cyder Vinegar

Fairly disappointing end to what has been a pretty promising range, loved the spicy sweet thai chilli, the warming beef & horseradish and the amazing cheddar & spring onion. Unfortunately it's another classic gone wrong story here..

Salt & Vinegar is hard to get right, so many people know the flavour so well, so it's very easy to judge. That's why I tried two different packets before giving them their review.

There's way too much salt and way too much vinegar on these. The vinegar is sour and the salt is clumped into piles on the crisps. You'd need a whole pint to wash these down with. Just too much, and the vinegar needs to be sweetened up a tad.

Overall a great range from Jack Pots (fairfields farm) but salt and vinegar needs work.

Jack Pots - Sweet Thai Chilli

Fairfields have already done one of the best sweet chilli's ever (see here) so I was pretty intrigued to see what they'd change here in their Jack Pots range...

It's definitely different from the other ones, with a lot more emphasis on the chilli rather than the sweetness. So you have to be able to take some spice to eat these.

Luckily I can, and I like them. Not as much as the fairfields range ones, but in a different way. It's nice to have a good kick of spice every now and again and these definitely pack a good amount of punch without making you cry. It's lick your fingers good.

Cofresh Hummus Chips - Creamy Dill

Cofresh have a pretty wide range  available in most off licenses. But i've never come across their Hummus Chips! They caught my eye in WhSmith Luton airport recently.
I love Hummus! Why not Hummus crisps?

So these are basically made from chickpeas, with a bit of corn flour thrown in i'm guessing to solidify it a bit more than 100% Chickpea would be. They give good crunch and make a good crisp. They're shaped quite like shell pasta. I was hoping for much more of a Hummus flavour which isn't so apparent.

These are very much Dill crisps, which isn't for everyone but I think Dill is ok. Was just hoping for something a lot more Hummus-like.

Jack Pots - Roast Beef & Horseradish

Second flavour from Jack Pots (fairfields farm)
and i'm happy.

They're beefy in a different way from mccoys steak... they're more like a really tasty gravy.

The thing that makes these crisps what they are is the horseradish/mustardy seasoning, it's just the right amount. The flavour is there without the pain. The quantity has been perfected and it pretty lick your fingers good.

The crunch is still pretty good, if a little soft on some crisps (maybe to do with this years potato crop)

A good hearty pub crisp.

Jack Pots - Mature English Cheddar & Spring Onion

Slightly deceiving here, that fairfields farm (who i've reviewed on here before) have decided to branch out and do a second brand of crisps.

When reviewing fairfields farm, I felt there were very strong points, and pretty weak points. I wasn't overly impressed with the lack of flavour in their Cheese & Chive.

So will Jack pots Cheddar and Spring Onion be an improvement?

Yes. These are packed full of creamy cheese flavouring and an extreme amount of herbs. I think that people not usually liking cheese an onion could be swayed when trying these. It's such a full and mature cheesy flavour that makes them extremely moreish. The crisps can be a little soft at times but overall a good crunch.

Kettle Chips - Blue Stilton & Port

Couldn't help but purchase these on a cold winter's night.

They've been on sale for a good while, but I figured they're worth a shout out.

Kettle chips do quality crunch very well, that comes as standard, so it's the flavour that's to talk about here.

They are very stilton-ey. In a tasty comforting way, but have more than a few handfuls and you'll feel a little queazy. The port is pretty subtle, but it's a red wine-ey sweetness that fits in the flavouring.

Here i'm starting to bite into my reviews from the Crispmas party a couple of weeks ago. Make sure you keep tuned as there's some pretty insane crisp reviews coming up that i'm looking forward to sharing with you/ some of made me vom.

Here we start with a safe bet. The Irish crisp makers Tayto (you can't say that without putting on a Irish accent can you?!)

Part of their very welcome Fusion range and i'm pretty happy with the crisp. It's got a really really good crunch with nice smooth flavour, the pepper is not too full on but very much an integral part of the taste. The roast beef is well - very similar to roast beef! These went down a treat at the party.

Tayto have done well here and get the crisp nation sign off.

Leighton Brown - Sweet Potato Cheese & Jalapeno

Leighton & Brown have hit the spot again.

This is the second crisp creation from the new to the scene hackney crisp makers.

Sweet potato makes a good crunchy crisp, and in this instance doesn't feel too sweet. The cheese is good and the jalepeno tops it off perfectly without taking over the whole flavour. The packet says 'smokin hot' but I wouldn't worry about that.
These are no Death Rain, but they have a tang that works so well with the sweetness of the potato.

Definitely a pack worth trying. I saw them on sale in Albion, Shoreditch if you're looking..
