Walkers team up with Pizza Hut for their max range. Max range are known for their deep ridge and extreme flavouring for maximum taste…

Which is why I’m quite shocked that these are quite underwhelming… barbecue flavouring is normally quite extreme on its own so I would’ve thought that the max range would’ve done for it. I quite like Texan bbq on a Pizza Hut pizza and I wish these would’ve done them justice.

Walkers MAX double crunch claim to have Maximum possible crunch - deep ridges and twice cooked.

I do love a good crunch and i'm starting off with a flavour i'm expecting to like - BBQ Ribs.

Woah! Well they certainly weren't kidding around about the crunch! It sounds like a wall is being knocked down in Crisp Nation HQ! These are almost dangerous they're so crunchy. Many times have I scraped the tender roof of my mouth in an insatiable frenzy of Wheat Crunchy gorging - and I believe these could have the same effect if i'm not careful.

The flavour almost plays a sideline to the extremity of this mouth workout. That said, it's a nice flavour - smoky and sweet. Not overpowering, but not underwhelming. These are some satisfying crisps to wrap your noshers around.

Walkers - BBQ Rib (Flavours of the decades)

Another in the "Flavours of the decades" range is BBQ Rib - and we apparently have the flavour of the 90s here...

On the back it suggests that American food took over the high-street and that BBQ Rib was the favourite - well I can't say I remember that happening but I have to say it's my favourite flavour of the decades range so far!!

It's a subtle - not to dissimilar from Smokey Bacon with a nice bbq tang but with a definite sweetness to it that isn't too sickly and hits the spot nicely.

New from the Collisions range - a tale of two tales - and a review of two reviews!

The Honey glazed ribs are great, really smokey and sweet. The Lemon blast is like eating toilet cleaner I don’t mind the tinge of lemon that hits the ribs as a sweetness on bbq flavouring works well - but on its own... bleugh! No thanks!

New in from Doritos - their Heat Burst range!

So the idea of these are that you start off tasting one flavour and end up tasting another. So here we go...

Ok well it's definitely Doritos own BBQ flavouring to start with that's without doubt.. and... there it is! The chilli is hitting.. actually hitting pretty hard. This is definitely one for chilli lovers.

I'd advise eating one and waiting 20 seconds for the heat to settle in before scoffing a mouthful like I just did!

Nice idea from Doritos, although it does have to be said that most chilli crisps don't have a heat hit until later on but props to them for making it work. I'm off to dip my tongue in some milk.

I cannot get over how good airports are for new flavours of crisps!!

These new beauts from Walkers' MAX range (ridged and full flavoured) are BBQ Pulled Pork..

And I have to say they rival a good old McCoy's for flavour. The pork is smoky like Smoky Bacon and the BBQ is sweet like the glimmer in your Valentines eye..

These flavours were meant to be, conjoined and married in life for ever til death do they part.

Nom Nom Nom. Happy Valentines day lovers!

Kettle chips - Maple Barbecue whole grain waves (bites)

I love a good British airport - they're always the place you'll find a crisp brand trying out a new range.

Here we have kettle 'bites' - they look drizzly on the front but they're actually pretty similar to walkers sun bites- only thicker, crunchier & packed full of flavouring. Crunch is perfect, flavour is less so for me. Don't get me wrong I love a nice sweet tangy bbq flavour, but maple just doesn't sit right in this crisp and I'm finding them a little vommy.

Walkers - Meaty (MIXUPS)

Another addition to walkers' mental range of mixups, a mixture of some very different crisps all in one! It's gives you a great opportunity to see the very real differences between these crisps. As a mixed flavour I feel it works very well, the flavours compliment each other just splendidly.

That having been said it does throw up a clear divide in my tastes. This is the order I'd put them in:

1. French Fries, Worcester sauce - just a great classic with an awesome little crunch.
2. Monster Munch, Roast Beef -
Another great nostalgia enhancing classic, beef isn't the best of the monster munch flavours but it sits well in this lineup.
3. Doritos, BBQ Rib - again definitely not the best of Doritos flavours, but the Doritos crunch is a welcome addition.
4. Wotsits, Roast Beef - not really the same roast beef as the mighty monster munch, and definitely not the same great texture, these are soft and sickly. I've left most of them in the pack.
So there we have it, a range that works well together but I'd rather leave the Wotsits.

Ten Acre - When Hickory Got BBQ'd

Next up in the Ten Acre range - we have a hickory smoked BBQ.

BBQ is a flavour that so many crisp makers have got wrong time and time again by making them too sweet which in turn can make them quick sickly.

Ten Acre have gone for a much more smokey a flavour here, which have a nice deep paprika/cayenne pepper hit to it, not spicy but warming and intense. There is a subtle sweetness to it as you'd expect from BBQ but not overdone. Again the crunch level is great, they're not greasy and the flavouring is even.

A really great full on BBQ flavour. SO IMPRESSED. So is my little Buddy apparently - he can't keep his eye off them!

First up in the Walkers BRING ME BACK! range where they have brought back old skool flavours with old style packaging to get people to vote for their favourite.

And Barbecue I have to admit - I didn't realise it was a flavour that they didn't do anymore???! I have fond memories of the black packets of BBQ being left out of a multipack by other people and loving them myself..

A sweet subtle bbq flavouring, pretty simple - a little smokey.
