Walkers - Gourmet Burger Kitchen Classic Cheesburger (TASTE ICONS)

With so many amazing Burger options available to us now, I'd almost forgotten about Gourmet Burger Kitchen. I do however remember their peanut-butter burger being pretty amazing (I am after all intensely addicted to peanut flavouring).

They've gone with a classic cheeseburger for their Taste Icon flavouring with Walkers.

I can't say much about there being a beef-like flavouring in there but what I feel like I can taste (but doesn't seem to be in the ingredients) is a really nice dill pickle tang - Dill pickle really is the best flavouring you can get on crisps in the US of A.

Sure there's a sweet tomato flavour (pretty much prawn cocktail) and a slight tinge of cheese - but the best of the flavour is in that pickle and a little, very welcome hint of mustard.

Mini Cheddars - Nacho Cheese & Jalapeno (Mexican Party)

Next up in the Mexican party range, Who's cheese is that? That's not Nacho Cheese! & Jalapeno. (sorry couldn't resist).

I'm blasting into this range all in the same day as i'm just desperate to taste them.

Well, we already know that mini cheddars are capable of a damn addictive cheese crisp, so as we delve into the next level of spice (Medium) I have high expectations.

They've hit the buzzer - of course they've hit the buzzer! The Jalapeno hit is true and deep, the cheese is intense, smokey and creamy, would maybe be too much on its own but paired a hot, pickley Jalapeno hit - it's superb.

Doritos - Flamin' Hot Tangy Cheese

Saucy new number from Doritos.
I wasn’t sure what to expect from these. Would they be Monster Munch Flaming Hot, which is entirely bearable in spice levels and very flavoursome, or, would they delve into the fiery world of American Doritos, which pride themselves on a chilli flavouring so toxic you’ll be blowing smoke rings for days?

Well, the instant reaction clearly tells a tale of American insanity.

If you enjoyed the Roulette Doritos that came out a while back and were totally ok with biting the bullet with a spicy one, then these are for you.
A fiery hot chilli permeates through the tangy cheese - and they are not kidding about the heat.

Signing off to go and down a pint of milk.

McCoy's - Nacho Cheese (MUCHOS)

Next up in the MUCHOS range from McCoy's and i'm starting to have flashbacks to a similar crisp from the past - Phileas Fogg's tortilla rolls had a similar feel to their crunch.

Nacho cheese is a flavour that should be so simple, but it seems is so easily floored. Too light on flavouring and there's no point, too intense and it's sickly as hell. I believe McCoy's have really pulled out their best cheese mixture on this one. A mature but creamy cheese flavouring with a good tang on the tongue, I imagine these would pair well with a nice tomtatoey salsa dip.

Doritos - Tangy Cheese & Tabasco (Roulette)

New from Doritos - a different take on their Roulette range! I loved the Roulette crisps they brought out last year, tangy cheese and the odd insanely hot - a great novelty.

Here we have a branded version, using Tabasco's hot pepper sauce as the surprised ingredient. I love Tabasco on most things, but especially with eggs.

The pack says that some of these chips are ULTRA SPICY. Well I have to say that I haven't experienced that - but what I have got is a really great deep cheese flavour - the mixture of the classic tangy cheese with the peppery hot sauce is just great and while they're not supposed to of mixed up - it really does create a great combo. Definitely not a big spicy hit.

Walkers - Jalapeno & Cheese (MAX STRONG)

Last up in the new MAX STRONG range from Walkers and these are supposedly the hottest of the lot, so I have liquids to hand just incase.

Jalapeno and cheese are so regularly tasted together in Mexican food which I love so I feel like already this is a good pairing. The tang of the Jalapeno matches the creamy slightly smokey cheese really well.

These are definitely extreme in flavour - although actually pretty palatable in terms of actual spice. They're super cheesy, which makes for interesting breathe and I think they wouldn't make their way into a share sized bag.. but the flavour is good and i'm satisfied with this addition to the range.

Next up in Walkers' Choose me or lose me range, the US and A.

I would have thought they'd name this flavour bacon cheeseburger being American - but here we have Bacon & Cheddar. Not a flavour we're actually unfamiliar with. It's been seen before the BAKED range from Walkers.

So I already have an idea in my head of how sickly Bacon & Cheddar is, and how it will in no way match up to Smoky Bacon like they suggest. I guess this campaign is a good way to make people rediscover the neglected favourites!

And yes - they're sickly. I'm not getting the smokiness that I want from the bacon and the cheese flavouring is way too creamy.. bleugh.

Mini Cheddars - Stilton

It's been a while since mini cheddars brought out a new flavour - and these Stilton cheese are not for the faint of heart.

Stilton is sour, tangy cheese that are only for people with an acquired taste. That said - these are a dip into the flavour world of Stilton, as the actual cheese is a lot stronger - but I think they've picked the right amount of tang here. Any more and it would be getting pretty fungal.

They've hit the Stilton mark on the spot, but i'm not sure it's the style of cheese I would use. There's so many amazing cheeses out there.. I'm looking forward to more.

Walkers - Cheese, Cucumber & Salad Cream

This addition from Walkers brings up a lot of questions.
Do I want a salad cream flavoured crisp in my life?

Is a cucumber's flavour worth going on a crisp?

What am I doing with my life?

But we're reviewing them none the less....

Ok so they're not a bad as expected, and actually the first reaction in the office is 'These taste like a Macdonalds cheeseburger' Now whether that's your bag of crisps or not.. I have to say they bare similarities. In the cheese flavouring and the in the gherkin flavouring coming from the salad cream/cucumber combo.

These definitely taste creamy. In a pretty sickly way. Points for accuracy, deductions for being a terrible idea in the first place. No thanks.

Crisp Nation aficionados will notice that Cheetos have never made it into the ULTIMATE CRISP LIST.

Well that's for a good reason - they've always been imported from the US or other european countries but i'm happy to announce that they have now graced our shores. I always enjoy them when in the states so it's great to see they've seen the worth of coming over here.

Sure these are a massively processed creamy cheese that's definitely bad for you but damn are they tasty - and with that well known cheetos (or nik-naks) crunch from the nobbly corn snack.

Welcome Cheetos, welcome.
