in this case, it's just the vinegar and I'm not so sure I like it. It's definitely not dip-able and while it really is the flavour of balsamic - when would you really have balsamic on its own? Even when simply bread dipping - it really needs the olive oil and a tasty bread to make it what it is.
Hmmm, an interesting one from Walkers' new branch of Market Deli crisps. Balsamic vinegar, often well paired with salt as a fancy salt & vinegar..

I have to say, they really have done well with the thickness and crunch of these crisps - top marks for that, but i'm pretty sour mouthed as a result of the flavour. 4/1

(Why) (Why) WHY? Can't say this enough times, unflavoured crisps are pointless. At least with Pipers it doesn't just reek of the oil it's cooked in, you can actually get the potato from it.. but it's a really dull, bland flavour. I could that maybe if you had a dip with extreme flavour (sweet chilli?) that you might use these to dip.. that's as far as I can see. 2/10 'Potato flavoured Potato' This review needs to start with the word Why? Just seems a little pointless, are they sold for less money? Nah. Personally, I get nothing out of this.. there is no flavour - well apart from Oil. They could be named oil flavour (and i'm not talking about the tasty walkers one offs 'olive oil' flavour from their mediterranean range back in the day) i'm talking plain sunflower oil. A boring crisp, for a boring palette. 2/10 |
