Don't know about the creamy part.. not amazingly bowled over by them here. More like a golden wonder cheese & onion, just a little bit bland.
Fine for a standard cheese & onion, but boring.

Fiddlers really have perfected the crunch of a crisp. Great big crunch without being to oily. Don't know about the creamy part.. not amazingly bowled over by them here. More like a golden wonder cheese & onion, just a little bit bland. Fine for a standard cheese & onion, but boring. 5/10

An interesting take on sweet chilli here. Not so sweet and the chilli flavour has quite an indian influence to it. Which tastes good in its own right, just maybe the flavour needs renaming. Within the flavouring ingredients I can see soy sauce, garlic, tomato, cumin, parsley, chilli, dried Lemon juice, paprika extract & fennel. So it has a nice deep flavour, but it's just not sweet chilli. Give it a rename and i'd be a lot less disappointed. It's got a way to go before it lives up to Fairfield farm's sweet chilli (see here). 4/10 as 'Sweet Chilli' 6/10 as 'Chilli and Spice' Leighton Brown are very new to the block, they're based in Hackney, East London and this is their one and only flavour to date. I'm not usually a massive fan of crisps not made from potato or corn, they have a much more chewy rather than crispy texture to them. In this case it really works, the ingredients seem really natural and fresh, the parsnip still has a little chew to it but it's ok, parsnip has such a good sweet flavour to it that's very prominent. The manuka honey serves the parsnips well, but the real ingredient that makes these is the mild spices (including mustard & Celery). It gives it a great tang that will make you want to lick your fingers. They're not over or under seasoned too. Clearly these guys are ones to look out for in the future, they tell me they have another flavour in the making so hopefully we'll be seeing them before christmas, but for now: www.leightonbrown.co.uk. 8/10 There's something pretty wrong here. I can see why they thought 'butter and mint is great on boiled potatoes, why not on crisps?' but the result is a little too sickly for me. If you were a mint sauce fiend like my sister - then maybe it's for you. You get a definite taste of both butter and mint, but that's not something I personally want from a crisp... To me - these taste like a hand cream. 2/10 This time i'm going to ignore the fact they're too skinny, a tad oily and don't have enough crunch - the flavour here is good. The mature cheddar has a moreish intense flavour, the onion you can't taste as much but it works. This a cheese & onion worthy of Kettle chips fame. Congratutlations just crisps, now sort the rest out! 5/10 "Too much rape" So the crisp isn't overly dark like the black pepper (maybe that was a bad pack) but there's something still not up to scratch here. First off, they really are too thin, you just don't get enough crunch from just crisps. Secondly - there's way too much of the old rapeseed oil, this pack was super greasy. But quite a good salty flavour which works well.. So disappointing really, as they seem to of got the flavouring right, but thickness of crisp and oil levels are not up to standard. 3/10 |
